  Technical Lead


 

A large online publisher has immediate opening for a talented and motivated
technical lead to join a fun, energetic, ethnic and established Internet
Company located in downtown Manhattan.  This successful online publisher has
over 16 million members and is a profitable start-up. The technology
framework is based on PHP, MySQL, and Oracle.  Comprised of over 1 million
lines of PHP code and receiving over twenty million dynamic page requests
per day, their sites are among the largest and most heavily trafficked PHP
sites in the world and our technologists are the leading experts in
developing high performing, large scale enterprise applications.

 


Job Description:


*         Train, mentor and provide guidance to less senior developers

*         Design and implement system architecture

*         Develop and enhance core site APIs

*         Design and develop database procedures

*         Lead the technical design and implementation of software products

*         Ensure that all technical deliverables of a project team adhere to
quality standards

*         Participate in defining and enforcing coding guidelines and
standards

*         Work with project managers to create work estimates and timeframes
for technical development tasks

*         Work with project managers to manage technical development tasks
and project risk


Required Skills/Qualifications:


*         Minimum of 5 years of development lead experience

*         Minimum seven years experience in software and web application
development

*         Minimum five years development experience with MySQL, Oracle or
other major RDBMS

*         Thorough understanding of programming and database concepts and
principles

*         Advanced knowledge of a UNIX-type operating system (preferably
Linux)

*         HTML, JavaScript, XML experience

*         Advanced knowledge of web protocols and programming requirements

*         Experience with structured development methodologies

*         Experience building highly interactive, highly trafficked,
database-driven web applications

*         Experience writing technical documentation (i.e., requirements,
specifications, design documents, etc.)

*         Strong leadership, communication, organization and planning skills

*         BS degree (in Computer Science or related discipline)

 

 


Desired Skills/Qualifications:


*         Good understanding of the PHP programming language, XHTML/CSS, and
ECMAScript.

*         Good understanding of the C language

*         Experience with PL/SQL or other RDBMS programming language
