The Jewish Museum seeks a part-time, freelance programmer
(HTML/PHP/MySQL) who will work off-site.

Position: Web Programmer  (HTML/PHP/MySQL)
Schedule: Part-time (15-28 hours per month;); six-month contract
starting October or November, 2006.

inspire people of all backgrounds, The Jewish Museum is the preeminent
U.S. institution exploring 4,000 years of art and Jewish culture.

ABOUT THE WEB SITE
The Museum's web site, www.thejewishmuseum.org, is currently managed by
a team/web group of four, who  devote a combined total of 4.5 days per
week to maintaining and developing the web site.  Day- to- day updating
of the content is managed by museums departments through the CMU.    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Jewish Museum seeks a Web Programmer, ( HTML/PHP/MySQL Developer) to
maintain and extend functionality of our web site and custom CMU.  This
work involves updating existing templates that draw from multiple MySQL
databases.  The ideal candidate has experience developing applications
in an object-oriented manner, using PHP and MySQL on Linux Work is to be
done off-site.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS 
*	Strong computer skills: PHP, MySQL, Linux  - minimum 2 years
experience
*	Thorough knowledge of XML, XHTML, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
*	Strong understanding of cross-browser and platform coding
requirements 
*	Experience developing web applications using multiple
technologies is a plus
*	Knowledge/experience of programming best practice (e.g. design
patterns) 
*	Experience working as part of a web team 
*	Bachelors Degree, preferably in Computer Science 
*	Strong planning, organizational, problem-solving and time
management skills
*	Excellent people skills - ability to work cooperatively with
others at all levels
The following will be considered a plus:
*	Ability to program in Flash using the database
*	Zend and MySQL certifications 
*	Working knowledge of C, C++, Java or other OO language.

COMPENSATION
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
