Ziff Davis Enterprise is looking for a Senior Developer to join our team
in our New York office.     As a Senior Developer for ZDE, you will be
leading the translation of business objectives into products by
designing and developing client-facing applications and products.  You
will create technical specifications based on business objectives;
create stable, scalable code within a CMS framework; document his/her
work; and be good at looking towards the larger picture of the business'
goals to ensure reusable development efforts.  You should be proficient
in several languages with some level of expertise in at least one.

Responsibilities:         

 

*         LAMP development using a CMS framework (45%)

*         Maintenance of existing products (30%)

*         Documentation of development efforts (5%)

*         Writing technical requirements (10%)

*         QA of offshore team development efforts (10%)

*         Work closely with online team and client services team in our
business units to advance business goals.

*         Work effectively in cross-functional teams including
architects, developers, infrastructure teams, external vendors, business
analysts and internal customers.

*         Responsible for standard and advanced application development
duties. Including, but not limited to, analysis, design, construction,
code reviews, unit testing, tuning and application support.

*         Mentor, support and oversee more junior members of the team.

*         Demonstrate leadership through technical knowledge,
interpersonal skills, business knowledge, organizational skills and
professionalism.

*         Look for more efficient coding methodologies and opportunities
to enhance productivity in the team.

*         Proactively take measures to stabilize, automate and make
efficient the application environment.

*         Accurately estimate duration and effort required to complete
development tasks.

*         Undertake peer-to-peer code reviews of colleague's development
tasks.

*         Confront issues openly and quickly.

*         Support the development of new business proposals and
introduce new technology to continually enhance business solutions.

*         Demonstrate a proactive approach in helping to mitigate risks,
improve quality in an efficient manner and resolve issues as they occur.

 

Professional Requirements:

*         Minimum 8 years overall development experience in web
development, both front and back end.

*         Experience with user-based permission systems and 3rd party
data systems.

*         Knowledge and experience working in an agile development
environment.

*         Good analytical skills with a proven track record of
successful business application development experience.

*         Ability to manage own time in a productive manner with limited
supervision.

*         Bachelor's degree (preferably in Computer Science or MIS/CIS)
and 10-15 years of relevant IT experience. Relevant experience may be a
substitute for education.

*         Experience with high-traffic websites with 24/7 uptime
requirements.

*         Previous experience working in an on-line media company
preferred.

 

Technical Requirements: 

*         6 years experience developing in a LAMP environment, focused
on PHP4/PHP5 using OOP and MySQL5.

*         4+ years development experience with at least 2 commercially
integrated CMS solution (OpenText, Vignette, Drupal, WordPress, Mambo,
Joomla, etc)

*         4+ years of experience DHTML and dynamic front-end technology
(AJAX/JS/CSS/Flash/Flex)

*         3+ years experience with any of the following languages:
PERL, Python, C++, C, Java.

*         2+ years of developing of personalized products based on user
preferences and permissions.

*         Deep experience with API Integration with both internal
systems and 3rd parties.

*         Objective-C experience preferred.

*         ZEND certified engineers welcomed.
