Back-End Developer - NYC - 3-4 month contract

 

Responsibilities

* Work with business to help determined project requirements and time
estimates

* Analyze, design, and develop code for all application layers

* Troubleshooting, debugging, and documenting your work and
existing/legacy system

* We are primarily a LAMP-stack environment (with the P being PHP, and
specifically CakePHP), but we also have some fairly substantial work
with other technologies: Java, Objective C, a little bit of .Net, etc.

 

Requirements

* Minimum of 5 years as a software engineer. Your experience can be in
any programming language (Java, PHP, Python, C#, etc), as long as you
know, understand, and work with sound Object-Oriented programming
principals and concepts

* Knowledge of common design patterns.

* Competence with front-end technologies: HTML, proper use of CSS, AJAX
techniques, JavaScript

* Experience with source code and version control management systems

* Experience with unit testing

* Experience in database design and implementation. You should
understand why one particular database schema is badly designed and
another well designed.

* Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal),
interpersonal, and presentation skills.

* Strong attention to detail; passion for technology, challenging
environments and excellence

* Comfortable working across different technology platforms. You can
(and probably should) have technology preferences and areas of
expertise, but you should generally be technology agnostic. You
shouldn't care what platforms you're developing on (LAMP or .NET, Linux
or Windows).

* Aptitude for creatively solving unstructured business problems
commensurate

* Know how to work with others, on your own, or across departments --
depending on the situation
