Software Engineer

We believe building a strong engineering culture is the key to building a great company and product. Part of that vision is working with the best tools, many of which are open source. Here's a taste: Python, PHP, Ruby, JavaScript, Tornado, Chef, git, Vagrant, MySQL, Linux (Ubuntu), Apache, nginx, HAProxy, Amazon Web Services, Varnish, memcached, Capistrano, RabbitMQ, jQuery and more! Every piece of code that gets released to production is reviewed first to ensure high code quality, coding standards and continued learning. Our engineering team is 10+ and growing.

 

We are looking for well-rounded software engineers to join our talented development team. You will build high-performance web services, influence architecture decisions and scale our technology stack. You'll bring new methodologies to our development process and have an important say in how we build our platform.

 

Responsibilities

Code primarily with Python or PHP
Create a high performance, high-availability web infrastructure
Write tests and participate in code reviews to ensure quality
Work with lots of open source technologies

 

Desired Skills

BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent
Fluency in Python or PHP
MySQL (and knowing when MySQL isn't the right solution)
Experience with cluster or cloud computing (AWS preferred)
Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation
Experience with web infrastructure, distributed systems and performance analysis
Scaling (architecture/code/databases)
Entrepreneurial spirit and a preoccupation with staying on top of industry technology
