Job Description

Smith & Keller is seeking a few talented LAMP / PHP Application Developers. 

As a web application developer you will work with a great development team
building the engine which powers successful online businesses. You will work
closely with a creative and canny product team on web and mobile products
used by millions of users a month.  You will give technical input during
product design and aid other developers in adopting new technologies and
methodologies.  You will help implement innovative, best-of-breed solutions
which excite both long-time fans and new users alike.

 Developers tackle problems like

.         finding the right content for  the right user from tens of
thousands of options published 

.         creating fast, responsive web sites and apps which entice
long-time fans and new users alike

.         making innovative ways of visualizing and exploring one of the
richest IP and metadata sets you'll ever work with

 

The successful candidate will have a specialty (such as data modeling or
JavaScript) but will be comfortable learning and diving into any part of the
technology stack.  They will enjoy working with non-technical and technical
resources in a highly collaborative environment.  They will use their
knowledge 

and the web's technical capabilities to drive product development.

Responsibilities:

.         Development and implementation of web and mobile applications
using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, XML and Web Services in a LAMP environment.

.         Software design, development and implementation of mobile and
mobile web applications.

.         Work with traditional software lifecycle methodologies. Create
design documents when and as required. Perform coding, debugging and
testing.

.         Participate in design brainstorming sessions, technical design
reviews, formal code reviews, bug triage, and functional walkthroughs.

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications:

.         5+ years hands-on experience with PHP and the LAMP environment

.         5+ years hands-on experience with Web services such as SOAP, REST
and XML-RPC

.         Demonstrated experience working on high-traffic experiences

.         Ability to deftly and clearly communicate with the technology team
and to non-technical members of the larger organization

.         Strong sense of ownership and urgency

.         Ability to juggle multiple projects, set priorities and meet
deadlines

.         Critical thinking skills and a high attention to detail

.         Experience with common MVC programming frameworks a big plus

.         A love of problem solving and a demonstrated ability to produce
innovative technical solutions to complex challenges
