template tutorial, and there is another presentation-style one here:

I'm preparing some training materials to be given here in NYC, and
would like to know how many people would be interesting in the
following topics:

1) general mambo usage, best practices
2) template design
3) custom development (components, modules, mambots)

Which of these three focus areas are the most interesting?
