You can get the carousel code from dynamicdrive.com and stick it in a module.  I used their script in my pre-Joomla days.

Silly me, I didn't specify JED only, GPL + non-commercial. 

So no, I haven't found any non-commercial extensions in JED that incorporate this relatively simple JQuery.  :-o
