You might want to try something like Spamassassin to tag/divert your spam. I receive, on average, about 400 pieces of junk mail per day. With a combination of email client filters + spamassassin, I'm down to reading/deleting only about 5 unwated daily spams. That is roughly 2-3% of my daily email ham - which, for me, is acceptable.
