Is there a way within the class "constructor" function to verify if a
parameter passed into the class has retained its value? I keep apparently
losing the parameter value somewhere in the structure of the class and I
can't figure out how to verify when/if it gets lost.

The class I can't copy onto here, unless you want to see a class that's 200
lines long and has 30 parameters.
