Has anyone had success with web services in PHP?

I'm have a need for 2 php based web servers to talk to each other (in
order to do some database syncing) and I thought that webservices
would be a good way to do this. I haven't done much with web services
and I'm looking for a starting point for writing a SOAP client and
SOAP server. Has anyone tried PEAR::SOAP? Is there a better way to do
some DB syncing?
