I found Mastering Regular Expressions by Jeffrey E. F. Friedl
(http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/regex/index.html) to be an incredible
resource.  I haven't looked at it in some time (it's in NY and I haven't
been for a couple months), so I'm not sure how good it is for beginners, but
I do remember learning quite a bit from it and referring to it often.
