Are you sure you wouldn't rather export from Access to CSV and process that?

I can see the appeal of accessing the .mdb directly (via samba?) but
unless you need to do so in real time...

Well, another option might be to use MSDE or SQL Server as a backend,
but now I'm way out of my league.
