I think there was an interesting study for ebay:

2 items, exactly the same:

1 is $100 with $10 shipping
1 is $90 with $25 shipping

The cheaper item with expensive shipping will consistently outsell the
higher priced item with less shipping costs - even though the cheaper
priced item will end up costing you more.  Just something hard-wired
in the brain.

That's why the 1 penny sellers on ebay make a killing.
