ok, we had some traffic on here recently where that parameter seemed to 
be the problem, but it was not on a 64 bit system IIRC -- so I thought 
it worth mentioning

I believe Hans Z has some experience with the 64 bit platform, so you 
might want to see if he'll weigh in on this
