[nycphp-talk] Rescued: 66 black-anodized-steel PCs

Hello everyone,

I never meant to be misleading, so I sincerely apologize if anyone had
thought they were being given away.

Considering the large number of "hobbyists" on this list, I thought this
was a good opportunity for someone to get a slick LAMP server
up-and-running for cheap.

(All things considered, with the case, the motherboard/memory/NICs we're
throwing in, it's a pretty good deal.)

And, when running Linux, they're *superfast*. ...I thought you all were
true believers? You should know how to tune Linux to *scream* on a PI.

And if you don't, I'm available for tutoring @ $150 / hour.

HA! Kidding, people, kidding.

Matt

I can't speak for everyone, and I'm certainly not beating up on Matthew
(the
fellow who posted about the PCs), but the gist that I got from that post
was
that the machines were free (as they were "saved"), and I was actually
in
the process in researching how we could use those for LIPHP (meeting
tonight, BTW, www.liphp.org - shameless plug!). FWIW, I feel $250 can
go
alot further than that in the PC space.

I agree. This isn't a place to sell stuff. If it had been a giveaway
of old stuff that was going to be trashed, as someone else had posted
about six months ago, that makes sense to me. I was at the end of an
email expressing my desire for two of them when I saw the post showing
that there was a pricing sheet available on the web. PLEASE, spare me!
