No need.  They had issued their own disconnect order, which the tech 
failed to notice in the account info.  So she asked meaningful, topical 
questions like "is the modem's power supply plugged directly into a wall 
socket, or plugged into a power strip?"

No debugging in the world could get us past a disconnected line, 
however, and she ended up closing the ticket as RESOLVED.  Must have 
been the power strip.
