I thought it's the normal solution, just like any piece-work job. I'm doing the same thing, and yeah the taxes bite. You also have to file taxes 4 times a year.  :(

But at the same time, I think many employees get shafted even worse for long hours with no OT. At least as a contractor you get paid for those hours.
