I think the APC implementation of the server side process is the most  
recently updated php option.

Add this to your php.ini assuming your have APC installed (you do have  
it installed, right?):
apc.rfc1867 = on
There are serveral articles about it on the web.

If you have a multiple server setup, you still run into the issues Mr.  
Campbell mentioned.
